Situated in the south of Germany, close to Austria (Salzburg and Innsbruck are within easy driving distance), Munich is famed for it's stunning architecture, fantastic museums and rich cultural fabric. Oktoberfest sees the city choked with visitors at the end of summer, whilst Christmas is a great time for the Christkindlmarkt. The Dachau Concentration Camp is close by to Munich and now contains an informative museum. Further outside Munich lie several beautiful regions with much to see - Fussen, Garmisch-Parteknkirchen, Starnberg and Salzburg (Austria) all make great day trips. Munich is serviced by the Franz Josef Strauss International Airport, located almost thirty kilometres to the north-east of the city off of the E53/92 motorway. The airport is the second busiest in Germany, seeing almost thirty-five million passengers each year, and is spread throughout two terminals and several halls. British Airways (Terminal 1, Hall B), Easy Jet (Terminal 1, Hall D) and Lufthansa (Terminal 2) offer flights to and from the United Kingdom. Car rental collection and return is contained in a central area between Terminal 1 and 2. Hertz, Avis, National/Alamo, Budget, Sixt and Europcar are amongst the companies that offer rental services at the airport.
